Booming European Transcatheter Heart Valve Market to Hit $1.66 Billion by 2020, According to a New Study on ASDReports

The European Transcatheter Heart Valve (THV) market will more than treble in value from approximately $483 million in 2013 to just under $1.66 billion by 2020, at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 19.3%, according to a new report, now available on ASDReports.

The company’s latest report states that this impressive growth, which relates to five major markets (Germany, France, Italy, the UK and Spain), will follow a boom that saw the market rocket from $9.2 million in 2007 to $482.8 million in 2013, at an exceptional CAGR of 93.4%.

Srikanth Venkataraman, Senior Analyst, says: “The extended approval of Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) procedures for high-risk patient populations catalyzed this rapid growth during the historic period.

“The market will continue to expand by 2020 thanks to an improving reimbursement scenario for TAVR, along with supply-side initiatives to offer low-cost THVs compatible with multiple access routes.”

The report also states that Germany is the leading individual THV market in Europe forecasts its share to be worth $827 million by 2020, representing just under half the total market value.

Venkataraman explains: “The high percentage of Germany’s elderly population aged 75 years and above, combined with a favorable reimbursement scenario and an increasing number of heart centers trained for TAVR, have enabled the country to account for the largest share in the European THV market.

“Germany is a forerunner in the adoption of TAVR, with its large number of inoperable and high-risk patients creating significant demand and therefore stimulating market growth.”
