Additional report highlights:

Poverty is a large problem in Germany, with estimates showing over 15% of the population live on the poverty line. However, poverty is very different between West and East Germany, with unemployment being significantly higher in the latter. The government in Germany has been taking drastic steps to bring people out of poverty and give them a positive future.

Interest rates have been considerably low over the review period, with the EU trying to stimulate growth through lending cheap money. However, low interest rates have struggled to promote growth, forcing governments to seek other measures such as quantitive easing. The main obstacle of growth in Germany is the slow growth being seen within the Eurozone and the large amount of capital Germany has had to put forward to bail out struggling economies, such as Greece and Portugal.

Much of the growth in German wealth management and private banking sector over the past decade has been driven by growth in personal wealth and the number of HNWIs and UHNWIs. However, wealth contrasts are a sensitive matter in the country, with Germany being slandered by Greece, due to tough austerity measures that were placed on the country.
