The number of chronic heart failure cases in the US will outpace China, Japan, and the major European markets over next decade, predicts healthcare industry experts.
The company’s latest epidemiology report* forecasts that the prevalence of chronic heart failure in the US will increase from an estimated 6 million cases in 2012 to just under 9 million cases in 2022 for the population aged 45 years or older.
New report states that although incidence of chronic heart failure in the US has been relatively constant over the last decade, its prevalence has been gradually increasing. In 2009, the American Heart Association estimated that 5.7 million people in the US are living with chronic heart failure.
According to the forecast, the combined prevalence across the US, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the UK, Japan, and China is expected to grow to an estimated 27.7 million cases by 2022. Of the countries studied in the new report, Germany will have the second highest growth rate over the next decade followed by China and Spain.
